b) Smoking
Smoking is not only a physical
addiction but a psychological addiction
(used as a coping mechanism) and habit.
Health hazards of smoking
1. Increase the risk of coronary heart disease.
2. Cancer: - including cancer of the mouth, larynx, throat (pharynx),
esophagus, bladder, kidney, pancreas, cervix, stomach, and some
times leukemia.
3. COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
4. Heart Attacks
5. Strokes
6. Blood Vessels Diseases
7. Blindness and Other Problems
8. Special Risks to Women and Babies: Women who smoke are more
likely to have a miscarriage or a
lower birth-weight baby. Low birth- weight
babies are more likely to die or have learning
and physical problems.
Ⅴ. Injury prevention.
Injury is a major cause of permanent
disability and is associated with grief and suffering.
