Microsoft made a commitment to provide 10 years of product support for Windows 7
when it was released on October 22, 2009. This 10-year period has now ended, and
Microsoft has discontinued Windows 7 support so that we can focus our investment on
supporting newer technologies and great new experiences.
The City of Marion IT department has taken an proactive approach to this
deadline, Because of our great working relationship with Dell and Microsoft,
The IT department has successfully upgraded all of our computers to windows
10 at no cost.
In the current world, it’s almost impossible to imagine that someone can live
without computers. They have become an electronic device of almost every
day use for individuals of every age, and essential in almost all the business
dealings that are made nowadays. We will continue to remain proactive by
actively monitoring the network, maintain warranties, keep backup inventory of
parts and supplies. We believe with this approach we should be able to extend
the life of these devices.
Key Strategies:
• Keep backstock of vital everyday used supplies.
Aging Infrastructure • Monthly monitoring and maintenance of computers
The average lifespan of a computer is typically
three to five years, Many computers will last far
longer than this, and possibly a decade or more
if properly maintained
