Little Falls to Amsterdam




























        Continuing east from Little Falls, and for the remainder of the trail to Albany, you are surrounded by the
        Revolutionary War and Native American History the Mohawk Valley is famous for. In less than 3 miles
                                                         history  hits  you  first  with  Herkimer  Home  sitting
                                                         smack in the middle of the bike trail! However, other
                                                         sites including Ft. Klock (right), Ft. Plain, Ft. Johnson,
                                                         Schoharie Crossing and many more will require you
                                                         cycle a mile or so to reach them. For excellent info on

                                                         On to Amsterdam, the very heart of the majestic Mo-
                                                         hawk  Valley,  and  the  history,  natural  beauty,  and
                                                         amazing  canal  features  continue.  In  the  charming
                                                         towns
        of Fort Plain, Herkimer and Canajoharie, you’ll find, food
        and services as well as limited lodging, mostly provided by
        charming B&Bs (see our B&B directory on our website).
        In Amsterdam the ECT connects to the village, and to ser-
        vices  and  amenities,  via  the  Mohawk  Valley  Gateway
        Overlook Bridge (above). Here you can also swap pedaling
        for paddling with an outstanding guided kayak tour on the
        Mohawk River, and in the evening enjoy dinner and con-
        certs on the waterfront. (see “Along the Trail”)
