Syracuse to Rome
Between DeWitt and Rome there is plenty to see. Green Lakes State Park is under 5 miles, with beautiful
scenery excellent swimming and camping. At approx. 10 miles, you reach Chittenango where you can
tour the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum (right) defi-
nitely worth exploring before moving on to Canastota with its
own Canal Museum and great lunch options.
Cycling with the family? Maybe you’ll cut your day short and
spend some time at Sylvan/Verona beach for great swimming,
food, and even a day at the amusement park. Or just 3 miles
north of Chittenango is
“The Wild” a super fun
animal park, with awe-
some animals and great attractions.
For those opting to stick to the trail, you won’t feel short-
changed. The cycling is easy and scenic and good things lie
ahead. Arriving in Rome, Delta Lake State Park offers beautiful
scenery, great swimming, kayak rental, and more. And while in
Rome…, there are many choices for lodging, dining and activi-
ties, most notably is Fort Stanwix National Monument (right)
which is free and not to be missed!
