USE THE RIGHT TONE OF VOICE
Your intentions are conveyed by the tone you use, it needs to be varied.
Here are three styles of elocution, illustrated by three drawings
▪ When MAKING STATEMENTS, your speech
must be forthright
- Speak loudly, clearly and precisely
- Articulate your consonants
- And punctuate your sentences
When EXPRESSING IDEAS, your speech
must be conversational
- Your tone should be calm and natural
- Your delivery should be moderate
- And your syllables flowing
When PROPOSING, reassuring or giving
good news, your speech should be relaxed
- Let go vocally and smile
- Slow down delivery even further
- Lower the volume
- Lengthen your syllables.
Enlarge your voice:
it may be tough to change your pitch but anyone can speak
more loudly
Key tips for effective Pronounce your words clearly:
it may be hard to understand exactly what you say, don’t
delivery make it more difficult
Use vocal emphasis on key words
to reinforce the meaning
Use pauses:
for the public, to understand the meaning of what‘s been
said and for you to relax, breathe and formulate your
coming ideas.
It will also prevent you from tics (Er well… you know...)
