NPCI presents National Payments Excellence Awards 2015
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the umbrella
organization for all retail payment systems in the country, presents the
National Payments Excellence Awards 2015 to acknowledge exceptional
performance in operating various payment systems.
Shri R Gandhi, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) graced
the Excellence Awards ceremony held on December 22, 2015 as the
Chief Guest. The dignitaries present at the occasion were Shri
Balachandran M, Chairman, NPCI, Shri A P Hota, MD & CEO, NPCI, and
Shri M V Tanksale, chief executive, Indian Banks Association (IBA).
“It is our pleasure to felicitate our stakeholders with one-of-a-kind
Excellence Award for their committed efforts to boost e-payment
systems in the country. We encourage all participants to create new milestones and transform more lives in the future,”
said Shri A P Hota, MD & CEO, NPCI.
Banks were awarded in four key categories divide, into large, mid-sized, small, cooperative and regional rural banks.
Awards were also presented to prepaid payment issuers and white label ATM operators. Besides that there were also
special category awards for RuPay and AePs. State Bank of India too was awarded in the special category in appreciation
and recognition for making a huge difference to NPCI for all products.
For National Financial Switch (NFS), the flagship product of NPCI, the winners were HDFC Bank among large banks, Indian
Bank and Syndicate Bank among mid-sized banks, IndusInd Bank in the small banks category. The other winners were
Shamrao Vithal Co-operative Bank and Tata Communications Payment Solutions among co-operative banks and white
label ATM operators respectively.
About National Payments Excellence Awards:
The prestigious National Payments Excellence Awards 2015 are felicitated to inculcate a spirit of healthy competition
and to recognize the exceptional performance of NPCI Members. The awards mark the initiatives of NPCI in creating
new benchmarks in payment systems.
Commercial Banks, Co-operative Banks, Regional Rural Banks, White Label ATM Operators (WLAOs) and Prepaid Payment
Instrument Issuers (PPIs) are awarded on our products like National Financial Switch (NFS), Immediate Payment Service
(IMPS), Cheque Truncation System (CTS) and National Automated Clearing House (NACH).
The assessment period for this year's awards was from December 2014 to October 2015. The score for the awards are
calculated keeping in mind various parameters in each of the categories.
NPCI relaxes criteria for claiming personal accident insurance for RuPay
Mumbai: National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the umbrella organisation for all retail payments system in the
country is pleased to announce a relaxation in claiming personal accident insurance which is an added benefit for RuPay
Classic card holders. The usage condition for RuPay customers has been extended to 90 days from 45 days earlier with
effect from November 25, 2015.
RuPay Classic card holders will be entitled to a sum insured of Rs 1 lakh under Personal Accident Insurance (Death and
Permanent Total Disability) if the card holder has carried out at least one transaction within 90 days of accident including
the accident date. The channels which can be used by the customer are Merchant Establishments, ATMs, ecommerce,
Micro ATMs, Business Correspondents of the bank at locations.
“This extension will provide more flexibility to RuPay Classic card holders including the PMJDY customers who have been
brought under the ambit of mainstream banking.” said Shri A P Hota, MD & CEO of NPCI.
