COMMUNICATION REPORT
Porcus
SAPPO's communication team is looking forward to a prosperous and
productive communication year. Our communication efforts have been
streamlined last year and we plan to improve them even more in 2020.
Evaluation
Experts analysed Porcus last year. We also obtained feedback from some
producers. Comments were overall positive and we implemented their
suggestions. Porcus grew from the standard 40 pages to often more than
60 pages last year.
We plan to have experts analyse our digital platforms in 2020.
Frequency
Porcus will again appear six times this year and SAPPO News eleven times.
SAPPO’s Weekly Update will again be produced weekly. SAPPO’s infohub is
updated weekly with eleven new articles.
We are currently implementing improvements to the infohub (sappo.org). A
website for SA Pork, aimed at consumers, is being developed by our IT firm. A
website for the World of Pork was established last year, as well as a site for Best
Farming Practices. Improvements to the latter are in the pipeline.
Internal communication
We are investigating methods to improve communication among the
SAPPO staff.
Media
We have refined our system with regard to media enquiries and we have
established even better relations with the media last year. We try to tend
to media enquiries immediately and to provide as much support as they
need in terms of photographs, etc.
We again plan an informal media function to network with the media this
year. We also had a number of informal lunches with members of the
agricultural media last year.
