ABSTRACT
Antimetabolites are drugs which are structurally similar to essential
metabolites, they may inhibit the synthesis of these metabolites and
biological pathways in which the natural occurring metabolites are
involved. The marketed antimetabolites are categorized as antifolates,
pyrimidine analogs and purine analogs. Research in my group involves the
design and synthesis of derivatives and analogs of the naturally occurring
metabolites.
