B. Extension Agenda Elements
HAGGIYO Ifugao- Haggiyo is an Ifugao dialect which means “go
Extension and Training forward Ifugao”. That means to fight poverty and attain progress and
sustainable development, group effort through participation, hard work and
unity is needed to achieve it. The following are the elements of the agenda
Forms/Formats theme “HAGGIYO”
H- Health and Wellness Program
A- Agriculture, Food sustainability & Natural Resources Program
G- Gender and Development Program
G- Good Governance, Peace & Order Advocacy Program
I- Industry, livelihoods & Computer Literacy Program
Y- Youth Empowerment Program
O- Organizational Linkages for resource sharing
Strategic Formulation
Considering the current status, challenges in the national, regional
and local arenas and opportunities and bases derived from focus group
discussion, face to face interview and field visits, the extension and training
department identified the following strategies for action.
Strategies:
To attain the goal of empowering the target communities towards
inclusive and sustainable growth, the department must take the following
strategies:
1.Improve the extension training services of the university including all
colleges and departments through the following:
a. Identification of focused programs and projects for each
college and department.
b. Hiring of qualified extension staff for each college or
department who would be assigned to help in the implementation of
extension programs and activities.
c. Capacitate and professionalize the extension and training
personnel.
d. Formulate comprehensive policies and guidelines towards
functional and sustainable extension and training services.
e. Empower the extension and training department
personnel and extension coordinators.
f. Maximize the institutional fund for extension services for the
conduct of key programs and activities.
g. Initiate strong convergence in planning, implementation,
monitoring and evaluation of projects.
h. Improve social marketing of technologies for adaptation
by target beneficiaries.
2. Vigorously pursue the conduct of key extension programs and
activities for adoption and commercialization.
