PHYSICAL EDUCATION 11
Level: II- College Preparatory Credits: 3.75
The physical education portion of the program introduces students to basic skills and movement concepts
by participation and instruction through a variety of activities. The activities include team, individual, and
recreational sports, fitness activities, dance, and strength training.
* Physical Education 11 and Health/Family Living must be taken concurrently and each course must be passed
to meet the graduation requirement.
HEALTH 11 - FAMILY LIVING
Level: II- College Preparatory Credits: 1.25
This is an in-depth health education course that provides relevant information to help students make
informed decisions leading to a healthy life style now and in the future. Subjects covered in this course will consist
of drug education, violence and abuse prevention, human reproduction, family living, pregnancy and birth,
prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, birth control, fitness, nutrition, and eating disorders.
* Physical Education 11 and Health/Family Living must be taken concurrently and each course must be passed
to meet the graduation requirement.

* Physical Education 12 and Health/First Aid must be taken concurrently and each course must be passed to
meet the graduation requirement.
HEALTH 12 - FIRST AID
Level: II- College Preparatory Credits: 1.25
During this course students will learn how to recognize and care for injuries or sudden illnesses until
advanced medical help takes over. They will learn how to perform infant, child, and adult CPR, handle emergency
situations, breathing and cardiac emergencies, basic precautions for preventing disease transmission, procedures
for identifying and caring for minor and life-threatening emergencies, and how to use an AED for victims of
sudden cardiac arrest. This course will also cover alcohol and drug abuse, prevention, addiction, and treatment
options for someone who has a substance abuse problem. In addition students will explore different diseases and
discover family history, prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
* Physical Education 12 and Health/First Aid must be taken concurrently and each course must be passed for
credits to be counted toward graduation requirement.
UNIFIED PHYSICAL EDUCATION Credit 3.75
Level II- College Preparatory
This course combines students of all abilities to participate in developmentally appropriate activities including
lifetime activities, physical fitness, and sport. Students will work together to increase skill progression and
confidence in a variety of physical activities. Through ongoing leadership opportunities, members of this course
will be empowered to help create a more inclusive and accepting school environment for all students. This class
is offered to juniors and seniors. This will meet the State requirement for physical education. Teacher
recommendation is required.
