HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Introduction: One year of physical education/health must be passed for each year in school. Students with an
official medical excuse from physical education will be given written assignments that will determine their grade.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 9
Level: II- College Preparatory Credits: 3.75
The physical education portion of the program introduces students to basic skills and movement concepts by
participation and instruction through a variety of activities. The activities include team, individual, and
recreational sports, fitness activities, dance, and strength training.
* Physical Education 9 and Personal Living must be taken concurrently and each course must be passed to meet
the graduation requirement.
HEALTH 9 - PERSONAL LIVING
Level: II- College Preparatory Credits: 1.25
This course provides a comprehensive, sequentially planned program to positively influence the knowledge,
skills, attitude, and behaviors of individuals related to health. Subjects covered in this course will consist of
wellness, decision making, goal setting, communication, stress management, conflict resolution, suicide
awareness and prevention, consumer and community health, disease prevention, alcohol, tobacco, and other
drugs, and nutrition.
* Physical Education 9 and Personal Living must be taken concurrently and each course must be passed to meet
the graduation requirement.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 10
Level: II – College Preparatory Credits: 3.75

* Physical Education 10 and Driver Education must be taken concurrently and each course must be passed to
meet the graduation requirement.
HEALTH 10 - DRIVER EDUCATION
Level: II- College Preparatory Credits: 1.25
In this course, students will gain awareness of driving skills and responsibilities. They will demonstrate
knowledge of traffic laws and regulations and understand the impact that natural forces and conditions have on
driving. They will review GDL laws and the driving test and learn how to be a safe, courteous, defensive driver.
They will also learn the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and identify hazardous
conditions and how to react appropriately to avoid or minimize problems; as well as organ donation.
