ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
        Level: IV- Honors Credits: 06
This course covers the same content as anatomy and physiology, but at an accelerated pace. Additional lab
work is completed and analyzed. Students must be able to work independently in lab situations & out of class.
Pre-requisite: A grade of 85 or above in Biology- Honors or a grade of 90 or above in Biology.

Level: III – Advanced Credits: 06
This course is an in-depth study of selected areas of human biology. Areas of study will include microbiology,
human anatomy and physiology. Independent laboratory work and extensive use of the microscope will be
undertaken during the course of the year. This course is helpful to those students anticipating a career in
biotechnology and medical science at a two or four-year College. (However, most four- year colleges still prefer
        chemistry.)
Pre-requisite: A grade of 85 or better in Biology.

        AP BIOLOGY
        Level: V – Advanced Placement Credits: 07
Advanced Placement Biology is designed to be the equivalent of a two-semester college biology lab course
in its quality and sophistication. This course will contribute to the development of the students’ abilities to think
clearly and to express their ideas, orally and in writing, with an emphasis on integrating inquiry, reasoning, and
quantitative skills. Students will design and master plans for data collection and analysis, apply mathematical
routines, and connect concepts in and across primary domains of science (biology, chemistry, physics). Curricular
content is framed around “Four Big Ideas” which encompass core scientific principles, theories and processes
governing living organisms and biological systems.
Pre-requisite: Biology and Chemistry; A grade of 86 in Honors Science or a grade of 90 in Advanced or
        College Preparatory Science.

        AP CHEMISTRY
        Level: V - Advanced Placement Credits: 07
The advanced placement chemistry course is designed to be the equivalent of a general chemistry course,
usually taken during the first year of college. This course builds on topics that were introduced in honors
chemistry. Many new topics will also be introduced. The course will require students to think clearly and to
express their ideas orally and in writing, with clarity and logic. There is an emphasis on the quantitative
relationships of chemistry. A strong mathematics background is needed.
        Pre-requisite: A grade of 86 in Chemistry - Honors.

        AP PHYSICS 1
         Level: V - Advanced Placement Credits: 07
This laboratory course meets seven times per week. AP Physics 1 is an algebra-based, introductory college-
level physics course that explores topics such as Newtonian mechanics (including rotational motion); work,
energy, and power; mechanical waves and sound; and introductory, simple circuits. Through inquiry-based
learning, students will develop scientific critical thinking and reasoning skills. This course requires that 25
percent of the instructional time will be spent in hands-on laboratory work, with an emphasis on inquiry-based
investigations that provide students with opportunities to apply the science practices. The course will provide a
strong foundation for those engineering or physics majors that will need to take calculus-based physics in
