AP AMERICAN HISTORY
Level: V – Advanced Placement Credits: 05
This course is designed to provide students with the analytical skills and enduring understandings necessary
to deal critically with the problems and materials in United States history. The rigorous program prepares students
for college courses by making demands upon them equivalent to those made by full year introductory college
courses. Students should learn to assess historical materials- their relevance to a given interpretive problem, their
reliability, and their importance- and to weigh the evidence and interpretations presented in historical scholarship.
The purpose of this course is to prepare students the AP Exam in May and to get them more accustomed to college
level material. This course has more demanding work load than a honors level course, including researched based
questions, primary and secondary sours analysis, document- based historical analysis, and research in
historiography. This is a dual credit course with Camden County College. Students who take this course and
average at least a “C” will receive college credits in addition to high school credits. College fees will be
applicable for students opting for dual credit. Pre-requisite: A grade of 85 in US History II Honors or a grade
of 90 in US History II.
