INTRODUCTION TO WORLD PHILOSOPHIES/ MULTI-CULTURAL STUDIES

        Introduction to World Philosophies
        Level: III- Advanced                                                                       Credits: 2.5
           This course will introduce students to the accumulated wisdom of the ages through reading and discussion of
        excerpts from the works of prominent philosophies from all parts of the world. What is philosophy? How do
        different philosophies impact on life in Western culture and in other societies? What is knowledge?  What is  the
        nature of knowledge? What is the nature of the universe? What is real or reality? What is the value of a person?
        These are some of the questions which  will be addressed in this course--a valuable preparation for students
        planning to major in the humanities or trying to understand the nature of man.

        Multi-Cultural Studies
        Level: III- Advanced                                                                         Credits: 2.5
           The purpose of this course is to help students understand how different cultures describe and explain major
        ideas, programs and events. No effort will be made to determine the validity of these views. Rather, the  students
        will be able to appreciate common human themes but having different responses in many cultures from the past
        to the present. The myths and legends which will be read and analyzed are not judged as true or false, but as
        valuable and insightful explanations of people and events throughout history.


        AP PSYCHOLOGY
        Level:  V- Advanced Placement                                                                 Credits: 05
               Psychology is the study of the behavior and mental processes of human beings and other animals. In this
        class we cover psychological facts, principles, methods, ethics, techniques and various other subfields associated
        with  this  social  science.  Students  will  also  learn  empirical  data  and  ethical  considerations  in  the  field  of
        psychology.
        You are expected to take an Advanced Placement Test that will be given by the College Board in May and will
        count towards college credit. This is a COLLEGE LEVEL course and will be taught accordingly. You are
        required to write term papers using APA format as well as complete various other projects including an
        interactive psychological museum at the end of the school year. One of the required novels for this course is
        Tuesdays With Morrie.
        This is a dual-credit course with Camden County College. Students who meet college standards will receive
        college credit in addition to high school credit. College fees will be applicable for students opting for dual
        credit.
        Pre-requisite: A grade of 86 in Honors World History/Honors United States History II or a grade of 90 in
        Advanced World History/United States History II.



        PSYCHOLOGY
        Level: III - Advanced                                                                        Credits: 05
               This is an introductory course designed to cover basic psychological facts, principles, methods, ethics,
        techniques and various other subfields associated with human behavior and thinking. This course  will encourage
        student reflection and the ability to interact with and understand the behavior of others. Students are required to
        complete projects, tests, and write papers. One of the required novels for this course is Girl, Interrupted.
