SPANISH I
Level: III - Advanced Credits: 05
Spanish I will enable students to master basic structures of Spanish and apply them in everyday situations.
Listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing skills are acquired along with a greater understanding
and appreciation of customs, traditions, history and geography of the Spanish speaking world. Spanish may be
the key to the job you desire, a requirement to enter college, an increased understanding of the English language
and self-enrichment.
Level: II- College Preparatory Credits: 05
The course is designed for students who desire an exposure to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. It
is conducted at an appropriate pace that insures success in basic oral and written proficiency in the target language
and enhances personal enrichment. Emphasis is placed on authentic assessment, thus allowing students to apply
their skills in meaningful everyday scenarios. The daily listening, speaking, reading and writing activities
strengthen personal skills and enable students to acquire an overview of the lifestyle, history and geography of
the Spanish speaking world. The successful completion of this course will fulfill the State graduation requirement
of 1 year of World Language.
SPANISH II
Level: III - Advanced Credits: 05
This course extends the fundamentals of speaking, reading and writing which were developed in Spanish I.
Vocabulary development and grammar will be stressed as well as the ability to understand and communicate in
Spanish on a basic level. Selected readings will be used in translation activities. Multi-media materials will be
employed to practice the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Further study of Hispanic culture,
life and history will be used to develop appreciation of the language and the people.

Level: II – College Preparatory Credits: 05
This course is designed for students who wish to expand their understanding of the Spanish language and
become more acquainted with the culture, history and geography of the Spanish-speaking world. After a general
review of basic structures and vocabulary presented in Spanish I, students will learn additional concepts and
vocabulary related to their daily activities and interests. Once again, authentic assessment will allow the student
to apply their skills in tasks that will highlight aspects relevant to their daily activities. Various resources and
activities will enable students to improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and enhance their
cultural enrichment. Pre-requisite: Spanish I
SPANISH III
Level: III – Advanced Credits: 05
This is an advanced course which allows the student to improve skills in Spanish by studying literature,
grammar and several verb tenses. Emphasis is placed on conversation, composition reading and translating.
Speeches, dialogues, supplementary materials, games and individual-small group projects work to this end. This
is a dual credit course with Camden County College. Students who meet college standards will receive college
credit in addition to high school credit. College fees will be applicable for student’s opting for dual credit.
