GOOGLE DRIVE AND CLOUD COMPUTING
Level II: College Preparatory Credits: 2.5
This course is designed to explore in depth the many uses and applications in Google drive. This is a project
based class. Students will focus on Google Drive functions, such as; documents, spreadsheets, presentation,
maps, and forms. Students will also look at other collaboration type websites available on the Internet.
TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION: POWER POINT AND PUBLISHER
Level II: College Preparatory Credits: 2.5
This semester course is designed to extend the students’ abilities to use the computer beyond standard word
processing applications and into the more specialized areas of desktop publishing and presentation software.
Students will be introduced to the elements of desktop publishing through Microsoft Publisher. Basic layout
considerations, use of graphics, enhanced fonts, newsletter design, brochure layout, and other concerns related
to “publishing” a document are covered. Students will be introduced to the elements of presentation software
through PowerPoint. Developing and customizing professional presentations will be covered. Students will
present their PowerPoint documents to the class. Internet search techniques will be covered as well. Students
who elect this course will have the opportunity to add to their computer skills enabling them to meet the
additional technological demands that are being made of them within the high school setting, further education,
and the business world.
TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION: WORD – GRADE LEVEL 9-12
Level II: College Preparatory Credits: 2.5
This semester course is designed to build upon the basic word processing skills many students already possess.
It will provide advanced instruction in the use of Microsoft Word. Skills developed in this course should be
considered marketable for those students who may want to use this skill to obtain part-time or full-time
employment.
GRAPHIC DESIGN AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
Level: II – College Preparatory Credits: 05
Graphic Design and Communications Technology will introduce students to the challenging field of graphic
design. This course provides thematic design activities and visual design problems. This course covers principles
of design, typography, layout and design, an introduction to printing and printing processes. Students will use the
latest graphic software programs in an Apple computer lab. These programs include Adobe Illustrator, Adobe
PhotoShop, Quark XPress, and a variety of other programs that enhance the performance of these desktop
publishing programs.
PRINTING I
Level: II – College Preparatory Credits: 05
Printing Trades I is an introduction to photo offset printing and the printing industry. Areas covered are
introduction to printing, art and copy preparation, electronic imaging, reproduction photography, image assembly,
platemaking and bindery operations. Students will explore these areas in theory as well as through hands-on shop
experience. Students will use the latest software programs in an Apple computer lab. Software programs that will
be used include Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PhotoShop, Quark XPress and a variety of other programs that enhance
the performance of these desktop publishing programs.
