Gospel Mission Food Pantry Marietta
The pantry continues to serve the Marietta area with food,
toiletries, clothing and more. This local pantry serves over
200 people weekly in Marietta. Jeff and Candy Waite do an
excellent job of touching people’s lives for Jesus, offering
prayer and free Bibles to anyone who comes for food
assistance. They also have a clothes closet and do local
shoebox gifts for needy children at Christmas.
Latrobe Street Mission Parkersburg
Two major themes at the Mission are to provide Emergency Shelter for the
homeless and The Key Sober Living Facility. The Key is a concept in recovery
from drug and alcohol addiction. “We are a democratically
run, self-supporting, and drug-free residence. The Key
represents a remarkably effective and low-cost method
of preventing relapse. Our newly renovated facility houses
over 30 male residents.”
Latrobe is also running a clothing recycle program that
accepts any and all clothing, even tattered and worn. If their own shelter people
cannot use the clothes, they are sent on to Canada and then to Third World
countries. The Latrobe Shelter is paid a small amount for the clothing, which is
a source of revenue for them.
Kim Duskey’s Bible Club
Kim Duskey is a teacher in a local school who
has been leading the Bible Club for many
years. She genuinely cares for her students
and their families. In addition to an after-
school club, she tries to expose the children
to Christian outreach events and help them
learn about the Operation Christmas Child
shoebox ministry.
