3 The Human Mind
Never believe in superstition as it makes you unlucky
Introduction
This chapter examines some of the important psychological, physiological and other theories
that have proven themselves important in practice, and sets the background for getting to the
deep truth. Its bottom line is that the symptoms of deception can never be hidden, mainly be-
cause contention between different elements of the brain when lying always surfaces in recogniz-
able profiles. We usually know when we are being deceived; we just don’t want to deal with it.
