Corruption of Bribery

Chapter 6 : Corruption in the “Carbon World”

This is a bad mistake because preventing fraud and corruption means paying attention to detail,
and digging into the evidence especially when it is framed in a way that “Oh, you would not
understand” or the “debate is closed”. Such phrases are the clearest warning that you are about
to lose your shirt and your pants as well.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former. Albert Einstein

The words “consensus” and “science” are uneasy bed‐fellows in the “Carbon World”. No one
says that Newton’s Law, or Ohm’s Law is backed by a scientific consensus. Consensus is only
relevant when the science is dodgy.

“A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month and next year.
And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn’t happen.” Winston Churchill 1902

               1.5 Don’t Need To Be a Weatherman
                                                                                        8
The authors are not climatologists, nor are they in the pay of big oil companies . They are,
however, experienced investigators and interviewers; they can usually recognise truth and lies
when they encounter them – which is daily ‐ but facts are rare in the “Carbon World” because it
is polarised by heated emotions at the extremes, riddled with hearsay, conflicting “evidence” and
even greater conflicting interests. The conclusions of this Chapter are based mainly on known
                                                                                       9
and provable oral and written reactions of both “believers” and “unbelievers ”, on behavioural
evidence rather than simply on the “science”.

               PRINCIPLE
You don’t have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows…
“When in doubt, follow the money” and it’s straight to the bankers and tax collectors

So for a moment, let’s put the “global warming” science to one side and concentrate on the
behaviour and attitude of those who support it:

In September 2011, HarperCollins, a subsidiary of News International, announced the release of a new edition of
the world‐renowned "Times Atlas". An accompanying, much trumpeted, press release stated that :

"for the first time the new edition has had to erase 15% of Greenland’s once permanent ice cover, turning
an area of 15,830 square miles ‐ the size of the United Kingdom and Ireland into a green and ice free
zone. This is concrete evidence of how climate change is altering the face of the planet forever‐and
doing so at an alarming and accelerating rate"

8 But would not be averse to a big bung if one is in the offing
9 The word “deniers” is used by believers to denigrate those who ask questions. It is another false and intentionally
derogatory “frame”. A “denier” would be someone who accepted the science but dishonestly argued against it whereas
an “unbeliever” is someone who genuinely does not accept the “global warming” case and states his or her opinion
               honestly.
