Corruption of Bribery
Chapter 6 : Corruption in the “Carbon World”
The unsubtle change by believers in framing from “global warming” to “climate change” was
unavoidable when evidence conclusively showed that temperatures had not risen since 1998 or in
the case of more accurate satellite measurements since 1979. The reframing is pure “spin”
because "climate change" can only be another name for "global warming”. If “global warming”
does not drive “climate change” what does? The revised term has the single advantage that it
applies even if the planet is cooling. This is known in skulduggery circles as “bait and switch” or
“backing the horse both ways”.
In future, when people mention “climate change” ask them precisely what they mean by it, why it happens
and what humans can do about it. Get them to admit that they really mean “global warming” then watch for
obfuscation when you point out the facts. As Corporal Jones in “Dad’s Army” says : “They don’t like it up ‘em,
Captain Mainwaring”
2.2 A Very Unsettled Science and Strange Consensus
Believers say the “science is settled” and that it is time to move on. Yet, besides specific reports
and findings discussed later in this Chapter,:
Dr. Frederick Seitz, one of the most distinguished scientists of his generation, stated that
“In my more than 60 years as a member of the American scientific community, including
serving as President of both the National Academy of Sciences and the American Physical
Society, I have never witnessed a more disturbing corruption of the peer review process
than the events that led up to the IPCC report”
10
There are more than 450 peer reviewed papers challenging manmade warming, many
written by ex‐IPCC reviewers and authors who saw the light
11
In 2007 the “Global Warming Petition Project ” – submitted to the United States
government was signed by 31,000 American scientists urging the government to
disregard the Kyoto proposals for limiting the emissions of greenhouse gases. On the
contrary they argued that increases in carbon dioxide produce many benefits. The
unbelievers included 9,029 PhDs. 7,157 Masters of Science, 2,586 MDs or DVM and 12,714
Bachelors of Science. Many worked in climatological, meteorological, atmospheric,
environmental, geophysical, astronomical and biological fields directly relating to climate.
12
A February 2007 report in National Geographic stated that simultaneous warming on
Earth and Mars suggest that the Earth’s recent climate changes have a natural‐and not a
human induced ‐ cause. The temperature on Mars is rising almost in line with that of the
Earth's. In 2005, data from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey missions revealed
that carbon dioxide ice caps near Mars's South Pole had been diminishing for three
summers in a row
10 For reasons explained later, the “peer review” process is a contentious matter. http://cfact.eu/2009/10/30/450-peer-
