Global ), the “Hockey Stick” was accepted by the political community who concluded that if
carbon dioxide concentrations were not limited to 475ppm by the end of the century, global
temperatures would rise by between 2 and 6 degrees centigrade with dreadful results for

mankind .
Albert Arnold Gore, Jr, on page 65 of his book “An Inconvenient Truth”, produced his own
version of the “Hockey Stick” based on an ice core proxy analysis by Lonnie Thompson,
Professor in the School of Earth Sciences at The Ohio State University.

It appears that Professor Mann’s version was not “scary” enough, nor global enough.

3.3 Adding A Bit More Emotion
The case outlined above is the one still being – more or less ‐ supported by believers, although
with much additional detail, fine tuning and heart tugging, such as the plight of polar bears,
melting glaciers, hurricanes, vector borne diseases, deaths through hyperthermia and other
deliberately “scary” things. It is very rare to hear anything about the positive effects of global

warming or any realistic calculation of costs and benefits . There is even less about risk
assessment, misreporting, fraud and corruption in the “Carbon World”.
