Elephants

Elephants

are the

largest

mammals

on land.

Long ago there were elephants in most

countries. Now elephants live only in Africa

and Asia. They are smart animals that live

together and help each other.

Female elephants live in close family

groups. The group is made of mothers and

their babies. The young males stay with this

group until they are about 14 years old.

Then they leave to join a group of male

elephants.
