Hansel and Gretel started eating part

of the candy house. "Welcome to my home.

Please come in and I will cook you some

food," said a witch. The children were very

hungry and went inside the house. Once

they were inside, the witch locked Hansel

up in a cage.

"I am going to fatten you up and then

have you for supper," laughed the witch.

"Gretel, you must feed your brother every

day," said the witch.

The witch checked Hansel's fingers

every day to see if he was getting fatter.

Every time the witch asked to see his

finger, he would stick out a bone - the

witch's eyesight was not very good.
