Finally, they found an area deep in the

woods and the woodcutter and his wife

built a fire for the children.

"Stay here, my children, until your

father and I return. We are going to cut

wood in the forest," said the stepmother.

Hansel and Gretel soon fell asleep. They

woke up at night time and their parents had

not returned. Hansel and Gretel planned on

following the pieces of bread back home;

however, they were all gone!

The hungry birds of the forest had

eaten all the bread. The two children

walked around in the forest and saw a

house made of candy.
