Page Twelve PHOENIX June 21, 1973Heights Association ReportContinued from Page Bcidentally one of our members came up with a good idea: to urge each member to contribute $1 to a Tree Bank when sending in annual dues. So far $200 has been contributed %u2014 enough for four trees.Sarah Brown has shown the kind of interest that can make the Association a really strong effective organization. Despite the fact that she was just about to have a baby, she initiated a special study of the litter problem on Montague Street which will result in an action program. And justStreets and Sidewalks Committee, after having a baby girl, she called in a proposed resolution from the hospital urging that the Parks Department assign more men to keeping the esplanade clean.Tribute should also be paid to Henry Cateura for his persistent work as head of the Crime Committee, Bill Hazen for running this year%u2019s and the two preceding annual meetings so well, Jim Hindle for continuing to handle the thankless job of treasurer, Sybil Kooper for the thorough work she did as chairman of the Esplanade,Mildred Rosen for becoming secretary when badly needed, Jane Schwarz for representing the Association effectively before the Landmarks Preservation Commission, and Malcolm MacKay for preparing a most interesting and enjoyable history of Brooklyn Heights you will hear more about next fall.I would also like to thank Otis Pearsall for his fine work as chairman of the Nominating Committee. And my predecessor Bill Pennell, has been most helpful to me and to the Association duringthe past two years.Several members of the Advisory Committee have continued to demonstrate their interest in the Heights Association. Esther Broughton and Pauline Herd usually attend our meetings and both have served well as the Association%u2019s representatives to the Heights Hill Council. Bill Fisher, a former president, and Preston O%u2019Sullivan made valuable contributions to our deliberations on the knotty problem of Block 207.I%u2019m particularly indebted to Mary Vitale, who has been theAssociation%u2019s Executive Secretary for 20 years. She has been enormously productive and always gracious and good humored even when under pressure and when asked to do far more than she should T don%u2019t sep how the Association could function without her.I %u2019m very pleased that Ed Rullman has been nominated as president. He has been one of the mainstays of the Association for years. His knowledge, experience and dedication should prove invaluable. 1 look forward to working with him. Finally, thank you all for giving me the opportunity to serve as president for two years. It has at times been frustrating and disillusioning. But overall it has been a stimulating and rewarding experience. I %u2019m grateful for it.INDIAN,MEXICAN,PAKISTANICLOTHING.Specializingin long Dresses & Skirtsmens embroidered shirtsSorry, No Tomatoes!Sewing & NeedlepointWe don%u2019t make size*.We make fashions. We sew for you.We do alterations, too.V A\Yv :> | : | Im A181 7fh Ave.btw 1st & 2nd Sts.965-2598Tues.-Fri. 11-6 Sat. 10-6We are CLOSING for the Summeron June 22ndALL items V2 PriceNEARLY NEW304 ATLANTIC AVI852*0878B R O O K LY N FRIENDS S C H O O L RESALE SH O P'/ of children^/ clothmg f foij$/ aX)7o- 50^aX- %u25a0 %u25a0 %u25a0crocuslo nuagut%u2019 6t-u.elroolClyn,KJew Vork.1 , M M ejl(y .
