FOCUS ON SAFETY + QUALITY
DELIVERING THE SAFEST + HIGHEST QUALITY PROJECTS
To effectively ensure Haskell values of Safety and Quality (SQ) are ingrained in our execution
of Mega Projects, emphasis must be placed on the consistency and accountability of all on the
project. Below are those SQ tenets we feel will contribute to the safest project, the highest
quality, and solidification of long-term relationships with the clients we serve.
The SQ foundational tenets outlined below should not be restricted (in many instances) to only Mega
Projects, but should be considered as foundational requirements of all Haskell projects. As part of this effort
we will cast light on those tenets that should be considered for wider implementation (See Table 1).
The information below is segregated in to the phases of a project and
follow closely the Project Management Handbook.
MEGA PROJECT SAFETY / QUALITY PHASED RECOMMENDATIONS
1 PLANNING PHASE
OPERATIONAL KICKOFF MEETING
Early in the initial discussions with the client, the Project Director conducts an Operational Kickoff
Meeting to convey to the team what was sold, client expectations/requirements, and assure alignment.
During this meeting SQ will better understand the potential risks/exposures associated with the
execution of the work, mitigation requirements and commence with staffing assessment evaluation.
Concurrent with this effort should be the introduction of Haskell SQ leadership to the client
corresponding teams. This effort will provide a platform for a collective approach/understanding of
client expectations and/or requirements while establishing sound relationships from the onset.
GENERATION OF SAFETY / QUALITY PROJECT SPECIFIC PLANS
Project specific safety and quality plans will be generated by the SQ teams. These documents will be
detailed plans outlining risks/exposures, organizational structures and mitigation/testing requirements
to assure the planned outcomes are achieved. These documents are to be reviewed quarterly and
revised as needed to reflect the project conditions, changes in delivery or other areas of need.
SAFETY / QUALITY ON-SITE STAFFING ASSESSMENT
Based on the project scopes, anticipated trade partner workforce, risks/exposures and similar,
a Haskell On-Site Staffing Assessment will be conducted. The results of this formal analysis of
needs will become a commitment by the team to the staffing outcomes. This staffing will be
inclusive of full-time on-site SQ personnel and others required during specific phases of the
project. Waiver of the staffing analysis outcomes can be achieved only by a Group President.
Dedicated SQ administrative support will be required to assist with SQ
efforts to ensure professionals maintain “eyes on work”.
