ON SITE MEDICAL FACILITY
Mega Projects should consider establishing a workplace on-site health clinic. Caring for a large workforce on-site can
reduce workers compensation costs and the treating injuries on-site can avoid unnecessary and excessive off-site referrals,
treatments and prescriptions. Minor injuries can be resolved on-site, allowing workers to return to productive work more
quickly. More serious cases can be recognized sooner so workers can receive appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
3 DESIGN AND FIELD MANAGEMENT ENGAGEMENT
A collaborative effort ensuring the design and construction teams are coordinated and aligned with the overall
goals of the project must be established on the front end and maintained for the duration of the project.
EARLY INVOLVEMENT
◆ General Superintendent should be engaged with design team upon the completion of concept design.
◆ Design development can be enhanced with General Superintendent support by
providing insight to constructability and sequencing of work areas.
◆ With review of early design documents General Superintendent can coordinate field location services
for confirmation of submitted as-builts as well as information to scheduling for consideration.
EARLY PROCUREMENT IN ADVANCE OF DESIGN
◆ General superintendent will provide input for logistical reasons to procure
and deliver materials and equipment to the site.
◆ General Superintendent should provide field input to design team thoughout the project to
highlight conflicts and site conditions for consideration when changes are being considered.
WEEKLY CONSTRUCTION/DESIGN COORDINATION MEETINGS
◆ General Superintendent, with the support from the VDC group and project management, should hold
weekly meetings with the design team prioritizing the design work flow for field coordination.
