Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development

Sector at the General Sports Authority, and Eng. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi,

President of the UAE, Arab and Asian Fencing Federation, discussed the development

of future strategic items aimed at strengthening governance within the federation

and developing a mechanism for discovering and developing talent.

This meeting comes in light of the selection of fencing among the priority sports

announced by the Coordinating Council last June, along with athletics, archery,

archery and judo, as the authority holds meetings with priority sports federations,

with the aim of setting strategic items. Futuristic, helping to build new sports

champions, in line with the sports sector strategy 2032, which aims to expand the

base of participation in the Olympic Games.
The meeting reviewed the forms that are submitted to priority sports federations,

which include accurate details of the work mechanism within the federation and the

pillars according to which the new strategy will be built, in addition to identifying the

distinguished talents of each age group and the plans that will be followed to

prepare them physically and mentally, with the aim of enhancing opportunities to

achieve achievements. Drawing the full features of the strategy through subsequent

workshops that bring together the authority and the union.

The meeting witnessed the presentation of the current plans that the Federation is

working on, which includes focusing on young age groups in order to provide

adequate preparation for their refinement and development, noting that the results

of these plans and the performance indicators they contain will help define the
features of the future strategy. Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum said: The authority

is looking with the federations to find the best ways to discover and develop talent,

with the aim of preparing a future generation capable of achieving achievements in

various continental and international forums, and we are working with the Fencing

Federation to enhance competitiveness in sports by studying current strengths and

future opportunities. In addition to identifying ways to develop the presence of

fencing in the community, which contributes to attracting more talents.
