        Develop student training methods with the aim of creating new sports champions


        Establishing a new mechanism for discovering talents in schools and determining the target age group from 13 to 18
        years


        United Arab Emirates: His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development
        Sector at the General Sports Authority, Secretary General of the Emirates Sports Federation for School and University
        Education Institutions, met with representatives of sports federations included in the School Games project, with the aim of
        developing plans to help include these sports Within the educational sector institutions, making the best use of school
        tournaments to develop a mechanism for discovering talents in these sports and providing adequate support to enable them.


        The school games project includes 8 different sports, including the five on the priority list (judo, fencing, archery, bow and
        arrow, and athletics), in addition to Taekwondo, badminton and swimming. Therefore, this step represents an essential
        foundation to start developing the presence of these sports in schools to expand the base of their practice and increase the
        supply of clubs and federations with distinguished talents.


        His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum said: “We look forward to investing in partnership with educational
        sector institutions to achieve the goals set in the Sports Sector Strategy 2032, which aims to enhance our Olympic presence,
        and we are working through the school and university federation to find the best means of cooperation between sports
        federations and the Ministry of Education to implement technical plans.” established by the federations within the schools,
        by making a change in the methods of training students and preparing them for school championships.


        His Excellency the Sheikh added: “We support the efforts of the unions to achieve cooperation among them and to draw up
        technical plans that will be submitted to the Ministry of Education in order to reach the best degrees of coordination in
        methods of work and training, which will reflect positively on the process of preparing talents, as these plans will help the
        unions to reach, through institutions The educational sector, to all students in the various schools of the country, which gives
        us the opportunity to lay the foundation for the process of discovering sports talents, and to complete the first and most
        important step in the project of creating new Emirati champions.”


        The project works to secure the best benefit from the partnerships achieved by the Emirates Sports Federation for school and
        university education institutions. The unions set technical plans aimed at developing a mechanism for discovering and
        empowering students’ talents, and coordination with the educational sector institutions is done about the possibility of
        implementing them, by taking advantage of the link achieved by the school and university union between the educational
        sector institutions and unions, which enhances cooperation between various sectors and contributes to attracting more
        talents. .


        His Excellency the Sheikh briefed the representatives of the games federations on the plans of the school and university
        union, pointing out that the school tournaments are divided into 3 stages, the first of which includes all students who wish to
        participate, through tournaments held in various schools, before moving to the second stage in which the schools of each
        emirate compete among themselves for the purpose of better qualification. Sports talents to the third stage in which
        competitions are held at the state level.
