on with how we can identify with food and what food says about us.
It’s important for you to ponder these questions:
• What is food for you?
• What would you like food to be?
• What do you imagine it could be?
Now that you know that food is more than just fuel, we can begin to discuss
the more interesting question: What is good nutrition?
What is Good Nutrition?
I’ve given this question a lot of thought over the years. As of today,
here’s how I answer it:
For one thing, good nutrition controls energy balance. We also know
that not enough energy coming into the body in the form of food can shut
down vital processes such as our brain and our metabolism and reproductive
system. We also know that too much energy coming into the body can
create problems like insulin-resistance, weight gain, inflammation, excess
plaque in our blood vessels and blood pressure can increase.
As your coach, this book is going to guide you towards the right resources to
help you understand which energy balance is right for you based on your
needs and goals because there is such a thing as too little and too much.
We’ll discuss this more later on in this book as well.
Good nutrition also gives us…
…nutrients!
