Page 19 - The Skinny On Your Diet Plan
P. 19
Last, but not least, good nutrition looks for strengths and wins. We don’t
just want to point out to ourselves all our barriers and limiting factors, we
also want to look for what’s already going well and perhaps how to
improve on it. Look at your advantages and strengths of what you are
already doing and what you are already doing well. For example, if you love
eating a traditional hungry man breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage,
toast and orange juice, you could start by trying a variation of this breakfast
that might be more conducive to your goals such as adding some veggies to
the egg scramble or looking at the overall quantity of the meal rather than
just deciding on an entirely new breakfast like a smoothie. So, first, start
with what you eat and what you like and build off that. Focus on the good
stuff and tweak the rest, so it’s not a huge overhaul.
So, a quick summary. What is good nutrition? Good nutrition controls
energy balance, gives us nutrients, helps us look, feel and perform our best,
it’s outcome based, sustainable for both us and the planet, it removes
limiting factors and looks for strengths and wins.
I know what you’re thinking now,
“So, with all this information how do I get and stay healthy?”
