calorie density of a food affects the first aspect of good nutrition which is

        energy balance the nutrient density of foods affects our nutrient status.

        Foods that have high nutrient density, regardless of their calorie density, will
        replenish our nutrient needs. Foods with  low nutrient  density,  regardless

        of calorie density, will not replenish our nutrient needs. High nutrient-
        density food options include fruits, vegetables, beans,  meats, eggs and

        whole grains  amongst others;  in other words, whole, real, minimally
        processed foods. Low nutrient-density food options include potato chips,

        soda, hot dogs, deli meats,  and refined grains amongst others; in other

        words, highly processed food.
               As your coach, this book is going to help you build more nutrient-

        dense meals by discussing nutrient density in general, to help you improve
        the quality of your food. A third important factor of good nutrition helps us

        look, feel and perform our best. We’ve all been there when someone thinks

        they’re healthy because they’ve reached a certain weight, but what if their
        performance was suffering? What if they felt sick and tired all the time?

        If this is you and you are missing this piece of the good nutrition puzzle,
        something needs to be tweaked.

               As your coach, I want you  to take  a  holistic  approach  to ensure

        all  aspects of your nutrition are considered good nutrition. Not just  the
        popular ones. For those of us that may feel that we already have good

        nutrition but are experiencing performance losses and aren’t feeling so great
        may feel a little resistant to  change at first. But that’s okay!  We’ll be

        discussing this later too, but for now all you need to know is that if someone
        is consuming good nutrition, they will look, feel and perform at their best.

               Good nutrition is also outcome based. Yes, we know that behaviors

        lead to outcomes. So that is to say, every nutritional choice you make will
        lead to an outcome of some kind. So, when you look at yourself in the
