Building a Thinking Classroom
In this session we will discover what makes a “Thinking Classroom.” We will look at the 14
teaching practices presented in the book, “Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics”
written by Peter Liljedahl. This will be an interactive session and we will focus on the first 3
teaching practices. Participants will leave with tools they can implement in their classrooms
when they return to their school. These tools are useful to all grade levels.

Talk Math 2 Me
Looking for a way to create student engagement and curiosity in your classroom? By attending
this session, you will discover strategies on how to engage students in meaningful
Mathematical Discussions in middle and high school settings. When students talk through
problems, they build camaraderie and gain conceptual understanding. Participants will also
learn how to effectively implementing these strategies will bringing Joy to Mathematics while
ensuring instructional equity for all students while meeting their SEL needs.
