for Outstanding Program of Work, while
Prince George’s County and Hampton
Roads tied to receive the Director’s Choice
Award. Teen Asia Watts of the Hampton
Roads Chapter grabbed the Ruth Payne
Smith Speakers Tournament Award, and
Teen Kevin Moone, also from Hampton
Roads, won the Augusta Latham Cash
Essay Award.

Outstanding TLOD Chapter Showcase went to Southern Maryland, which also
won the Georgia Presswood Nelson Outstanding TTA Program. Hampton Roads
and Prince George’s County placed second and third in this category.

Lady Katina Robinson-Wright of the Prince George’s County Chapter won Top
Lady of the Year honors, while Teen Zoe Hayes (Prince George’s County Chapter)
was named Outstanding Top Teen for Area II.

The 35th Annual Area II Leadership Conference in Virginia Beach was a
bittersweet one of sorts, as it marked Lady Helena Dodson’s last Area Conference
as National Area II Director. But Area II made sure to make the conference a
record-setting one – 252 Ladies, Teens, Lords, National Officers and guests
attended the conference, the highest in the history of Area II.

As in conferences past, Area II once again pulled out all the stops. In addition to
the chartering ceremony for the Patuxent River Chapter, the conference also
afforded new Top Ladies the opportunity to introduce themselves to Area II.
Twenty-nine Top Ladies were presented during the Acts of Kindness Luncheon,
the most ever presented at an area conference.

backpacks going to the
Virginia Head Start program.
