The Hampton Roads Chapter Displays a Plethora of Service Activities

The Hampton Roads Chapter of the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. in Area II embraces all
programs and projects with a spirit of Enthusiasm, Energy, and Excitement! The
various scheduled activities have afforded the Chapter the opportunity to work in
partnership with numerous community groups and to also build stronger mentoring

relationships with the Top Teens
as the projects come to fruition.

Hampton Roads Top Ladies and Teens visit historic The Top Ladies, Lords and Top
African American Veterans Cemetery Teens visited the historic West
Point Cemetery in Norfolk, Va. on
Veteran’s Day. They helped to
beautify the cemetery by laying a
wreath at the West Point
Monument in the Elmwood
Cemetery which is a tribute to the
African American veterans of the

Civil War and the Spanish
American War. The teens not
only learned about their heritage,

but introduced themselves and shared this Hampton Roads Top Ladies present
information with other visitors which included Blessings in a Backpack to Headstart
several troops of the Boy Scouts of America. students.
Other chapter projects specified in this article are
the supplying of students at a local Head Start
Program in Virginia Beach, Va. with Blessings in a

Backpack; hosting a technology day at the chapter’s
adopted senior center where the teens showed the
residents how to use their cell phones; and serving
Thanksgiving Dinner to senior citizens. As a result
of the efforts by this chapter, Chapter President,
Lady Carolyn McKie and Top Teen Kevin Moone
were among a group of community volunteers who
were recognized by a local newspaper for their
service in a non-profit organization Hampton Roads.
