Teen Evan N. Abraham | South Suburban Chicago Chapter | Area III Sickle Cell Ambassador

Incredible would be one word to describe Teen Evan N. Abraham because she’s not your typical
teen. She’s actively involved in her community, often giving her time and service through the

South Suburban Chicago Chapter of Top Teens of
America, Inc., where she serves as chapter
historian. Common Ground Foundation and Different
Shades of Pink Charity are also graced with Evan’s

time and talent. Evan is an active member of New

Faith Baptist Church International where she

supports the Joseph Assignment. When she was
asked to represent Area III as the Youth
Ambassador for Sickle Cell Disease it was an easy

‘yes!’

Evan manages to find time for herself for fun and is Teen Evan speaks to actress/author, Kim Coles, about
involved in other organizations with an academic sickle cell disease at SynLod.
focus to help her towards her goal of attending an
HBCU to become an engineer. She is a member of
the Girls Varsity Golf Team and the JV Gymnastics
Team at her school. She has been involved in many
organizations and activities to broaden her interest

in and exposure to Math and Science such as Black
Girls Code, National Society of Black Engineers Jr.,
Girls for Science, U of I GAMES Camp, UIC Women
in Engineering and the IIT Illinois Tech Global
Leaders Program.

Evan is quick to share, the Bible tells us in Luke 12:48,
‘For everyone to whom much is given, from him much

will be required; and to whom much has been
committed, of him they will ask the more.’ Peter Parker

in Spiderman restates it as: “With great power comes

great responsibility.” That’s just how she lives her life.

When Teen Evan talks to others about sickle cell disease
she is quick to say, “I take my role as the Area III Sickle
Cell Ambassador very seriously and have been inspired
to do so much more with my role. I’m extending beyond
Sickle Cell to some other causes that are close to my
heart, but as the Area III Ambassador, I want to
encourage our Teens to get involved.” She has a very
close family friend with sickle cell. This was an
opportunity for Evan to get involved and support her
friend. Evan encourages Teens and Ladies to think
about working with their local Sickle Cell Disease
