     This sort of lead rope is so easy to make that the backcountry horseman should consider

  building a spare to hang in the horse trailer and to take on a pack trip. They’re also easy to
  join together should a longer rope be needed; just insert the back spliced end through the
  eye splice of the other rope, then through its own eye splice and pull the rope through. Now
  you have an extra twenty-foot rope.

     Similarly, short lengths of spare rope, three or four feet long, with an eye splice in one
  end, will prove handy for a host of duties around the horse trailer and tack shed. Making
  some up is a great rainy day project. You’ll find a host of uses for them around your camp
  and on your horse, whether for quickly securing an object to a tree or pole, tying a jacket on
