Literacy & Numeracy

Brigada sa Pagbasa

Literacy and numeracy skills are the
foundations of lifelong learning. These skills
empower students to make meaning, think

critically and creatively, and reach their full
potential. Throughout the grades, literacy
and numeracy are applied across all areas of
learning.
Obtaining an acceptable level of literacy
and numeracy can greatly improve many
factors in life, including improvements in
social life, education and career prospects.
The ability to read, write, and understand
information, can hugely affect employability
in the future. It is then imperative to
improve literacy and numeracy skills so that
these learners can productively work and
constructively compete with others.

The School Governance Council lent a ready hand in the implementation of the Brigada sa
Pagbasa program. Through their support, the book pantry was a success. SGC made it possible to
establish a reading nook equipped with mat, reading books, pillows and even sweets.

SGC officers and barangay officials, along with the alumni volunteers served as learning
facilitators after school hours. The reading sessions were conducted at the barangay halls.
