Chapter 7
An Unexpected Apology
The next morning the Professor was in the garden
hurling a stick at the dreaded rabbit. Somehow the little
bugger had managed to bend down and trample the
protective fence that he had so diligently built.
I was up at the manor when all of this was going on
and unaware of the rabbit adventure or that Pita had
shown up looking for me.
Their first encounter of each other was somewhat
tenuous. The Professor had definitely made a judgment
about Pita based on my description of him as a
somewhat arrogant young man.
Pita had turned on his heels and was just about to
leave as I walked onto the scene. Upon seeing me, his
demeanor abruptly changed and he greeted me, “Kia
Ora, Kori”, with an actual trace of a smile on his face.
I was suspicious of this new Pita, but thought, why
not give it a go. So, I let the Professor know I thought I
could handle it from here. He was reluctant but slowly
walked off leaving Pita and I alone.
