Pita was carrying a cloth in his hand. He explained
that he had come to apologize and brought me a little
something.
Slowly he unwrapped his treasure, which turned
out to be a kumara with shoots growing off it.

I realized the Professor still had a watchful eye on
us and was within earshot as he blurted out, “You
brought her a potato? … Quite strange I’d say”.

After that little outburst, I reminded the Professor
that he had a dentist appointment to go to and he’d
better get on his way.
