Part II   Let Your “Why” Speak

embraced by a small group of people who shared our pas-
sion of “cleaning up the planet one bag at a time.” They
wanted to share our concept too! That’s when I learned the
value of having a good story and listening to where and
how it lands.

               “

A good story is an invitation to connect.

               ”

For us, it was an opening for like-minded people to
come together and participate in the co-creation of a brand
and a movement. We were tiny but we were powerful.

What I learned is that the product is not the thing; it’s
the platform, the messenger.

    The story—that’s the thing.
The early adopters shared and embraced our story as
their own, and they took it further than we ever could
have. They told us we were more than a practical prod-
uct—we were an aspirational brand. We used a lifestyle
accessory to spark a conversation that inspired and empow-
ered a cultural shift. We did this by listening to our tiny
voice that was filled with passion for our “why” and to our
customers experiencing the power of our “why” through
our products.
You have a good story. Tell it. And listen to how peo-
ple respond to it.
