Your tour guide will meet you in the lobby of the Marriott
Waterside Tampa to begin your day’s experience. A quick trip
across the bay will bring you to beautiful downtown St.
Petersburg, an area quickly becoming an art mecca in the
Southeast.
Your tour will take you through town and along the beautiful
waterfront where you will pass by the new Dali Museum with its
Dali-esque façade facing the bay, which houses world’s most
comprehensive collection of works by the late Spanish
surrealist Salvador Dali. Then it’s on to experience the pioneer
of the studio glass movement, Dale Chihuly. He is credited
with transforming the methods of creating glass art and
thereby leading the development of complex, multi-part glass
sculptures and environmental art. However, Chihuly’s
contributions extend well beyond the boundaries of the studio
glass movement and even the field of glass: his achievements
have influenced contemporary art in general. Over the years
the artist has created a number of memorable installations
including “Chihuly Over Venice” with the sculptures installed
over the canals and piazze; “Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem,”
attended by more than one million visitors, and the “Chihuly
Bridge of Glass” in Tacoma, Washington. After seeing this fine
collection of Chihuly you will experience the Hot Shop where
you will enjoy a glass blowing demonstration. This narrated
demonstration enables you to better understand the skills of
this fabulous art form.
Lunch will be in the downtown St. Pete area at a local
restaurant. Afterwards, return to Tampa and the Tampa
Marriott Waterside.

After lunch continue your tour with more highlights beginning
with a visit to the old Tampa Bay Hotel at the University of
Tampa. This National Historic Landmark features unique
Moorish revival architecture and dramatic minarets. Soak in
the splendor of days gone by as you see and hear the history
of this fabulous hotel and its founder, railroad tycoon, Henry B.
Plant. A drive along beautiful Bayshore Boulevard and through

through the park to discuss design-related aspects of these
