Platinum Winner Purva Ramdasi

Purva Ramdasi won a well deserved prize for
Purva Ramdasi
using Poka Yoke concept she had learnt in her Green
Belt session with NIQC to work on making a change to the
Payroll accounts she worked on. Her problem was that
Different Payroll accounts (also known as trusts ) had first phase
or final phase closing deadline on the same day of the week or month.

There were different folders for each Payroll account and sub folders for type
of inputs. Onshore teams saved the inputs for different Payroll accounts /trusts
in these respective payment category folders to work upon. The deadline day was
very busy and peak time for the Payroll team. The procedure was to check each and
every input folder before giving sign off to onshore team. It was very challenging to
check and confirm there were no inputs left to process.

POKA YOKE concept was used and a macro file created which identified whether there was
anything saved under the trusts folders for processing. The macro extracted those folder
details. This directly highlighted the folder to look for processing during the peak. Problem
solved.

This resulted in ensuring none of the inputs were missed and gave confidence to the team. Also
there was a reduction in escalation and a time saving for the team during peak hours.

Thus a small Macro saved the day for Purva and team and she was very thankful to NIQC for
having taught her to look for small wins and not necessarily always great accomplishments. This
gave her the confidence to move ahead successfully to larger projects. She was able to successfully
exhibit her win under the Poka Yoke section and secure a prize for her efforts.
