Raghubabu had this interesting issue at his
workplace “Mismatch issue at customer end due to
Banda Raghubabu
wrong loading of the part in the packing box was identified
& prioritized.
What is mismatch issue? The Gear box part have 2 halves i.e., Upper
Half and Lower Half, this matching was done in the assembly section.
The issue was that the Parts were not correctly matched at times resulting
in a customer receiving two Upper or two Lower Parts and this was called a
mismatch issue.
The solution they used was simple there was a barcode created for both parts and while packing
these barcodes were scanned to ensure that there was a Upper and Lower being packed. If there
was a mismatch there was an alert which was produced when the barcodes were scanned. This was
a low cost correction to save a lot of customer angst and rework.
The above example clearly shows how a small improvement (Kai Zen) can result in great benefits.
For completing this project successfully DN Business excellence awards were happy to grant
Raghubabu a Platinum award and he in turn was very thankful to the concept learning he had
received at NIQC which helped him in this path to success.
