For an F&BA giant it was becoming a nightmare
to increase Delivery Efficiency post COVID lockdown
days. The morale of drivers was at an all time low and
things seemed to be heading downwards on a roller coaster.
Sunny Agrawal decided to do something about this. His goal was “to
re-boost our efficiency up to 90% at least with the help of Regular
manpower huddles and Motivational sessions along with back up manpower
planning, Daily huddle of drivers to attempt every shop and improvise driver
behaviour to enhance buyer experience while delivery, incentive plans for drivers
and executives.”
With this scope and goal in mind he set about doing the following activities a bit of data
analytics to understand where the gaps were and also a bit of psychological understanding of
the lack of motivation for the drivers. His act was then to introduce methods to stop gaps
wherever leakages were happening and leading to miss out on “on time” deliveries. The
Psychological push was provided by team huddles and motivational talks to the drivers along with
an incentive being granted for on time deliveries
This saw a huge turn around in the on time delivery met % which was tracked as Pick 2 Delivery %
which saw it move on to meet the target of 90% and the Return to Origin% was down to about below
10%.
Sunny was very happy to have deployed the PDCA method by aligning to work with the drivers and
motivating them to moving towards meeting targets. As they say Lean is all about correcting the
process and motivating the people. This helped Sunny win an award at the DN Business Excellence
awards and also continue to stay motivated in these tough COVID times along with motivating his
co workers
