expression to their
ideas through various
literary forms. The
activities of this
club are planned to
augment the output
of the members of
the club and thereby imparting these values to the student community. The English department of the
school along with the incessant assistance of Coordinator, enrolled around 30 students who possessed an
inherent interest in literary activities. A number of activities were organized such as competition on the
topic Shakespeare Soliloquies in which the student participants delivered fantastic speeches of famous
characters of all time. One amazing way to teach students about Shakespeare are these soliloquies, in
which the performers can speak directly to the audience. This helped in building their knowledge and
developed their confidence in English. The main objective was for students to enjoy working with this
kind of text (which can be very motivating) and improve their confidence with language. In another
activity Performance Poetry, the students of class XII read their self-composed poetry with expression,
using their voice and gestures to convey the meaning of the text. The idea behind this activity was to
make the performers become fluent readers and increase their comprehension. In addition, the repeated
readings allowed students to use appropriate sentence phrasing, read punctuation markers, and read with
