NUR 539 (Management in the Inter-conceptual Period)
Theory & practice related to nurse-midwifery management of interconception care.
Includes anatomy and physiology of postpartum, endocrinology, current
contraceptive methods and selected minor gynecological problems and long-term
disorders. Physical, emotional and social theories operative in women' health
problems and studies as a basis for midwifery practice. Incorporates research
findings course content and applied research principals in analyzing clinical
problems.
NUR 540 (Nurse-Midwifery Process IV)
Clinical experiences are synthesis of nurse-midwifery management experiences.
The focus is on refinement of assessment and management skills. Emphasis is
placed on the application of knowledge, judgement and the management skills
needed for safe-midwifery practice and the use of sound rationale for management
within ordered priorities. Practice includes nursing care of normal labor, delivery
and immediate care of normal newborns.

Elective Courses for Midwifery
NUR 583 (Methods of Perinatal Nursing)
Application of theory and research in the clinical setting concerning the high-risk
antenatal patient and her fetus. Field experience take place in high-risk clinics in
perinatal centers. Emphasis is on the perinatal nurse’s role in providing continuity
of care to high-risk pregnant women.
NUR 586 (Gynecological Health Problems of Women)
Focuses on effective nursing assessment and intervention utilizing physical,
emotional and social needs inherent in women’s gynecologic health problems.
Relevant clinical experience will be arranged according to student’s clinical
objectives and professional goals.

Functional Role Courses

NUR 566 (Curriculum and Instruction)

This course combines the elements of the curriculum process with instructional
principles and methodologies. It is designed to assist the student in the
understanding and application of the foundations and methods of curriculum
development.
