Will you want to learn—even memorize—key Bible verses that explain
who Jesus is and how to come to him? Absolutely. But be mindful that
many who don’t know Jesus give very little credibility to the Bible, just
quoting passages isn’t likely to matter much.
But your story—told with integrity and passion? That will resonate.
So give it a go. And remember to ask your fellow believer what his or
her faith story is, too.
Share Your Story
Stretch
Activity You saw it coming, right?
Two After you share your faith story with a believer, con-
nect with a non-believing friend and ask if you can
share the banker’s story and your faith story.
Explain that it’s an important piece of who you are, and you want
your friend to know about it. And promise to pick up the lunch tab.
Just know this: Your friend may not become energized and declare a
new heart for God. You may share your faith story with a hundred non-be-
lievers and never once have someone decide to become a Jesus-follower.
If that’s the case, don’t be discouraged.
In a letter to the Corinthian church, Paul wrote this:
“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making
it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is
anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants
and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be
rewarded according to their own labor” (1 Corinthians 3:6-8).
You’re planting seeds. You’re being faithful to share.
Well done.
