become an artist or a dancer they are a bit hesitant—not because
they have an issue with you becoming an artist or a dancer—but
because they cannot see or believe that you can make sufficient

money out of it.
They will say no to everything where any kind of risk is involved.

You will have to be very careful as far as your career is concerned,
you will have to make it your top priority. you did not come across as
a person serious about his career at any time during your school and
college days. You have also not done anything which would make
them trust you, or take you seriously. I have seen a lot of times that

students complain about their parents not understanding them. But
for your parents to understand you, you will have to take the
initiative. If you have been a mischievous child all along, and all of a
sudden you want to be heard then you will first have to change your
behaviour, you will have to show how serious and conscious you are

regarding your career, how much hard work you are putting in, and
only after that you can hope that they would listen to you.

As you grow old and mature, your parents will understand that they
don’t have to control you anymore, and you will have more
alternatives. To make a good start you must first correct your
behavior and bring in discipline and seriousness into your life. To

change their perspective towards you, your self-confidence would be
sufficient in itself, and they will not have to decide for you or worry
about you.

Your parents will only get benefited if you make a career for yourself;
why would they want to spoil your career? In my experience I have

seen that when a student lacks confidence, he feels weak all the
time, there is fear and uncertainty in his mind, at times he is involved
in several kinds of addictions, he keeps wrong company and then he
expects his parents to listen and take him seriously. Change has to
begin from within you, and with a little bit of difference you will see
that issues regarding your family which appeared huge in the past do
not affect you anymore.
