P. 61

Many a time people want to know irrelevant things like:
Which brand of pen did the topper use?
What did the topper had in breakfast, which vegetable would he

                consume in his dinner?
What did he write on the walls of his study room?
Should I get a copy of the notes written by him?
What do the parents of the topper do? Do they have a fancy job?
                Has he got siblings?
Can I get to know about some Interesting tales from the topper’s life?
Should I collect his photographs? etc.
These things are not going to help you in any way.

If you watch/read interviews of many toppers you will actually get
                distracted.
When one topper says that book A is good and another says that
book B is good, you will get confused; you may think that both the

students are meritorious, whom should you listen to? It is possible
that you are inclined towards self-study but if the topper
recommends group studies, you will again be doubtful of your self-
study approach. You just have to know yourself, and trust yourself.
Whatever route or method we have chosen for our studies, we have
to stick to it. We do not have to get affected by others’ words. We
know what works best for us. God has created every individual

differently with different qualities. Someone studies well during the
day time, while someone likes to study till late nights. Someone
would be genuinely interested in increasing their knowledge base,
while someone would only want to study enough to clear the
examination. People know what works best for them.

Many a time the media and news channels portray a topper with a lot
of exaggeration that leads to misconceptions. You are drawn away
from the reality, and you start romanticizing the lives of the poor
students who cleared the exam. There are so many news articles
about an autorickshaw driver’s son becoming an IAS officer or a
security guard’s son becoming a collector. These kind of news items
are presented with a lot of sensation. But when a young boy from a

prosperous family comes across such news he thinks that being the
